ages ago (1993) I tried to convice some friends that some wierd amalgam of disco and punk was a good idea - I was laughed at (repeated, except by a friend who was a drummer) .. then I found the Jah Wobble - legend lives on disc with Betrayal on it... and some people though "hmmm not so bad of an idea" .... Does any one know anything similar to this old Jah Wobble stuff -- really almost Punk Dub ,, that exists???? (obviously PIL, besides that) THANKS!!!! Duane

Re: Jah Wobble Betrayal
Tue, June 20, 2006 - 1:23 AMsome Material falls under that category, and the bill laswell > PIL > jah wobble > material > bill laswell connections are many. However, listen before you buy because most of Material's output is like world/funk/dub electronica, with some dub poetry, hiphop and freejazz thrown in. Sort of what Jah Wobble was up to when he hooked up with them much later on, in the late 80's and early 90's.
There's so much punk disco out there that you've got to start with some basic compilations:
Anti-NY, NY Noise, Young New York, the world of Arthur Russell, 9 o'clock drop, Ze Records compilations, etc. -
