So I correctly predicted the music they would play on tonight's party scene on "The OC": "E Talking" by Soulwax. (There was a subplot about who supplied the E.) They also played Bloc Party during the same party scene.
For last week's party scene, they played, "Daft Punk is Playing at My House."
I'm losing my edge....

Re: The OC: Discopunk TV
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 1:13 PM"That L Word Show" is as boring as a Holly Near concert at the Michigan Womyn's Festival. YAWN! "The OC", howver, is the finest bit o' television to be seen on the TV! The music! Julie Cooper! Ryan's biceps! Zach's pants! How can you dis any of that?! -
-
Re: The OC: Discopunk TV
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 2:57 PMI can't stand Holly Near and don't see the connection.....although sometimes they do play some lameass music on the show and there are times I cringe....but there have been some well-written scripts and well acted and directed episodes.....but please.....it's really just a soap opera.....it's not highbrow drama or anything!!! and I watch it for the sex scenes too......ok....that's enuff defending of the show.....there are some embarassing cringing moments on the OC as well........ -

Re: The OC: Discopunk TV
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 3:01 PMYou don't see the connection between Holly Near and "That L Word Show"?
You need to approach "The OC" with the right attitude. Of course it's over the top, ironically funny soap opera. That's what makes it so great. And, the music is excellent. Even Rooney. They just need to show Ryan walking around nekkid more and it'll be perfect. -
-
Re: The OC: Discopunk TV
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 3:46 PMyou got it wrong, mister! I never said I didn't like the OC....and I was referring to the L Word as being the soap opera.......yeah,Ryan is adorable in a James Dean[but more boyish]way.....and I love his pseudo method acting.....the lil' pouts and such......and yes....the music is cool....I even bought the mix cd's......

Re: The OC: Discopunk TV
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 12:11 PMOnce there can be "cool points" for something, it's no longer cool.
Whereas that which is as clearly uncool as a Fox television serial, can be effortlessly enjoyed by the cool, with a layer of irony.

Fri, April 22, 2005 - 11:59 AMLame, lame, lame.
Let's talk about class, and economics, and how inextricable they are from what's "cool" and what isn't. Then you can be as self-righteous as you want. -

Thu, January 26, 2006 - 10:41 PMSo I had to dig up this thread from last year.
"The OC" continues to have the best music on television.
On tonight's episode I recognized a snippet of this:
Diefenbach "Favourite Friend" (Simian Mobile Disco remix)
