Just came across a 'band' this tribe might like...
Their bio says "New Young Pony Club are Andy, Igor, Laura & Ty - a 2 boy / 2 girl electronic pop riot squad, in love with Chic guitars, Stranglers bass, Soft Cell synths and Blondie vocals."
'The Get Go' appears to be their stronger track. Anyone else no more about them?

Re: New Young Pony Club-
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 7:00 PMYes, they're good. You should search for the song "Ice Cream", which I like even better than either of the newer songs. It always gets a good response when I play it. It reminds me quite a lot of Delta 5.

Re: New Young Pony Club-
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 7:14 PMI LOVE New Young Pony Club! We've probably played "Ice Cream" as much as any track since Shadowplay started.
Kristo (barback at the Stud and discopunk comrade) posted a pic of sleeve of the 7" of Ice Cream, in the photo album of this tribe a while back.
So far they have only released their singles on 7" vinyl, UK import.
We've also been playing "The Get Go," their second single, at Shadowplay lately. You can download "The Get Go" as part of a mix, and the B side "Jerk Me" as a separate mp3, at one of my favorite mp3 blogs, Tyler Fedchuk's "Smashed Robots."

Sat, August 13, 2005 - 7:37 AMThanks for the link. Are they planning to do a full length soon? This stuff needs to be heard. -

Re: New Young Pony Club-
Sun, August 14, 2005 - 6:48 PM"The Get Go" follows the catchy guitar melodies of early Cure material (who hasn't these days?). The other tracks I've heard ("Ice Cream," "Jerk Me") have a rougher, less polished sound.
If you're into NYPC, check out Tuesday's fresh 7" release by White Label Detroit: whitelabeldetroit.com/

Thu, September 28, 2006 - 8:52 PMAnd now, 1 1/2 years after becoming a hit on the Shadowplay dancefloor, NYPC's "Ice Cream" is finally getting heard by everyone-- as the new theme music for the Intel dual core processor commercials:

Re: New Young Pony Club-
Mon, April 30, 2007 - 2:17 PMhi.
sav's the guy who first signed new young ponyclub.
here's a music business story....
the band leader andy was an old mate of savs from 10 years ago...
he'd got andy to play one of their nuphonic parties in brighton.
sav asked him if he had any new music he'd made...
andy said ' yeah sav... i got this stuff on the shelf but don't know what to do with it.'
so sav gave it a listen...
and said he'd put out the tunes on tirk cos he felt they were great.
they shook hands... they agreed and said they'd 'see and share whatever happened'.... and NYPC were born....
sav released only 500 7" singles on tirk records, although demand sugested otherwise... just to build a vibe on the 7's. sure enough, they did build a vibe. Everyone picked up on it... loved it, played it, danced to it.
then sav drew attention of the band to some manager he knew... who was suggesting to take the band on, and help further the band together with tirk.
... all fine!
... then the band went off to a major and left tirk with nothing but a debt and 2 years of lost hard work and dedication.... and a few less 'friends'.
the music business sucks...
its a shame how buiness and money overide friendships and gentlemens words.
good luck to new young pony club in their jurney to success...
i am at least proud to say that it started here

Re: New Young Pony Club-
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 2:14 PMI enjoyed their short set at Popscene-- though I wish they had played "Descend"-- I could see that being fun to dance to live.
Highlight for me was when lead singer Tahita gave our Jorge props for his enthusiasm--"I can see *you're* drunk!"
Tahita reminds me of Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex.
The Ponies cut their set short because Tahita was ill and losing her voice. NYPC has cancelled all of their scheduled shows through years' end for Tahita and her voice to recover for the big NME tour of the UK in February. -
